Whether you or your loved-one has had a stroke, been in an accident, has an acute or chronic illness, or experiences developmental delays, our speech pathologist can evaluated and provide appropriate treatment when needed.
Working together with referring physicians and in cooperation with the Medical Imaging department, our Speech Pathologist performs Modified Barium Swallow Studies which examine the anatomy and physiology of swallow function using videofluoroscopy.
This study determines if aspiration of food or liquids occurs upon trial swallows and assesses overall risk for aspiration when an individual eats and drinks, as well as helping to determine appropriate compensatory swallow strategies and therapeutic techniques to improve swallow function. Therapy can be done in both the inpatient and outpatient settings.
